An exhibition of art responding to Cervantes' literary masterpiece, Don Quixote de la Mancha.
Wed 8th - Sat 25th April,
The Core Theatre, Theatre Square, Touchwood, Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3RG
Private view: Thurs 9th April, 5pm to 8pm
An exhibition responding to Cervantes’ Don Quixote de la Mancha. Initially inspired by the marvellous engravings of Gustave Doré in an illustrated edition of the famous book, Tom Ranahan invited selected artists to join him on a visual adventure in response to Cervantes’ masterpiece.
The exhibition celebrates one of the greatest works of world literature. Cervantes was one of the writers whose work helped inspire the international celebration of literature and storytelling. Though written in early 17th century Spain, the themes raised by the novel still resonate today, humour, comic situations, shifting perceptions of reality, and questions of morality in a cynical world. These ideas provide fertile ground for artists to explore.
May we all go 'tilting at windmills.'
